Family Type: The applicant should belong to a family with either an AAY or PHH ration card, which signifies economic disadvantage.
Education Qualification: The beneficiary girl should have passed the 8th standard or equivalent. Application Timing: The applicant needs to apply at least one month before the date of marriage along with essential documents like proof of marriage, age, ration card, and Aadhaar card.

Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT): The monetary aid is deposited directly into the bank accounts of each beneficiary utilizing the DBT mode, which allows for transparent and optimizing assistance.

Application: The applicant girl is required to apply to the concerned District Social Welfare Officer (DSWO) at least a month before the date of her marriage along with the necessary documents.

The Tamil Nadu government provides multiple marriage assistance schemes for the assistance of poor families, orphan girls, and widows who marry again to pursue educational goals by obtaining financial assistance.

Moovalur Ramamirtham Ammaiyar Scheme: ₹25,000 + 8g gold coin (10th pass); ₹50,000 + 8g gold coin (degree/diploma).

In Karnataka, Scheduled Caste (SC) persons living in the state who marry a Hindu non-SC person receive the Inter-Caste Marriage Incentive. Such a scheme aims to minimize casteism. The scheme provides an incentive to an SC resident of Karnataka married to a Hindu non-SC person, and whose total income does not exceed ₹5 lakh.
